The hard part is deciding what not to build.
Every product has one problem that decides whether people use it. I find it in the field rather than in a meeting room, pick the metric that proves it is fixed, and build the smallest thing that moves it. I learned that on industrial software, where nothing gets adopted because a slide said it would.
What I shipped

Stopped the app stalling in the field
Crews had complained for years and nobody had sized it. I instrumented it and made the number the release goal.

Ended silent data loss
The backend dropped work orders without telling anyone. I made the case to leadership for a rebuild instead of another patch, and got it funded.

Five apps into one
No single app owned the work. I set the roadmap, folded them together, then ran the rollout and training myself. Nobody was ordered to switch.
